Mateu Alemany wanted to make things clear with Gavi Paez. In a week in which there has been talk of a possible future for the player at Chelsea, Barcelona's sporting director closed the door on his exit.
"Gavi renewed at the time for four seasons and he has three more to go, he's sure he's going to honour his contract. We are convinced that he is going to finish his career at Barca. There is no problem," he told 'DAZN'.
Alemany also spoke about the transfer window that will open on 1st June: "When the transfer window closes, we are already thinking about the next one. This is part of the show. That's nice for the fans, but we work all year long to be in a good position for the market. Now we have to focus on the team and the competition, on winning the title as soon as possible. There will be a long summer for signings.
"The title is still a little bit far away. La Liga is the one that has the most value. The second-placed team won and we are forced to give our best and keep that distance. La Liga is the most important competition of all and the one that represents the best team of the whole season," he said.
