Brazilians Savinho and Yan Couto, who are training with their national team in Orlando for the Copa America, left their continuity at Girona up in the air on Tuesday and assured that their future is being worked out by their agents.
The two players, who belong to the City Group and have been on loan at Girona this past season, appeared at a press conference on the eve of the friendly against Mexico in Texas and gave evasive answers about their next destination.
"I had a very good season with Girona and now my loan is coming to an end. I'm seeing with my agents what I'm going to do with my future," said the full-back. Couto recalled that he has a contract with City until 2026 and that he intends to honour it.
"I will talk to them (referring to City Group) this summer to see what they want and the possibilities that exist", but "I will leave it in the hands of my agents because the season is not over yet, there is the Copa America and I am focused on that", he emphasised.
In this sense, he insisted that he wants to finish the season well and that the European transfer market is very long. In the same vein, Savinho said he was aware of the "many rumours" about his possible move to City for the 2024-25 season, but quickly put the matter to rest.
"I don't want to talk too much about it; I'm letting my agents sort it out and I'm sure there will be news soon", he said. Like Couto, the striker said he is now focused on the Copa America, despite all the speculation surrounding his future.
"Things happen at the right time," he said after being asked about the possibility of being under Guardiola's orders next season. The 20-year-old Savinho said he was "very grateful" to Girona, a club that, according to him, has changed his life, as it has opened the doors to the senior Brazilian national team.
The ‘Selecao’ will play two friendlies against Mexico, on the 8th in Texas, and four days later against the United States, in Orlando, with a view to the Copa America, to be held between 20th June and 14th July.
The Brazilian national team, in search of its 10th continental title, will make its tournament debut on 24th June against Costa Rica at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
