Girona receives first refusal for Abel Ruiz

Girona are already planning their squad for the 2023-24 season, in which they will play in the Champions League. The Catalan side have set their sights on Sporting Braga's Abel Ruiz to strengthen their forward line.
According to ‘Mais Futebol’, the Girona outfit have made an offer for the Spaniard, but the Portuguese side have rejected it. This proposal was for 9 million euros plus variables. However, Braga are demanding an amount approaching 15 million to let him leave.
The FC Barcelona youth academy-trained striker's contract with the Braga side expires in June 2025, meaning he could leave the club next summer without leaving a single euro in the club's coffers. This factor plays in Girona's favour for the operation to go ahead.
Abel Ruiz has played 48 games this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists. In his time as an Arsenal player, the Spaniard has appeared in 188 games in 5 seasons. He has 38 goals and 18 assists to his tally.
