Griezmann makes 400th appearance for Atletico Madrid
Antoine Griezmann returned to Atletico to make history and is making sure his name will be remembered. He is already the club's all-time top scorer and has now reached 400 games as a ‘Colchonero’. He is not yet in the ‘top 10’ of most capped players, but he has 21 games left to do so and the season has only just begun.

Antoine Griezmann is breaking all records at Atletico. A few days ago he reached his 500th La Liga game, today he celebrates 400 official matches as an Atletico Madrid player.
Fate has also wanted the ‘Little Prince’ to reach this milestone against Real Sociedad, his former team. The Frenchman arrived from the ‘Txuri urdin’ team in the summer of 2014 after five seasons at a high level at Anoeta.
At the age of 23, Griezmann started his career at Atletico and soon became a benchmark for the ‘Colchonero’ team. His best season as a ‘Rojiblanco’ was 2015-16, in which he played 54 games and scored 31 goals, his personal best to date.
As time went by, the ‘Little Prince’ attracted the attention of Barcelona, who convinced him to move to Camp Nou in 2019, but he didn't do as well as he had hoped and ended up returning to the Madrid side in 2021-22.
In his first spell as a ‘Colchonero’, he played 258 games. Since his return, he has added 142 more to his tally to reach 400 games for Atletico Madrid.
Before playing that match against Real Sociedad, he had won 233, drawn 86 and lost 80. In all this time, he has scored 182 goals (14 of them from penalties) and provided 81 assists.
The 400 official matches take him one step closer to the top 10 of the most capped players in Atlético's history. He is currently 13th, 21 behind tenth place, which is occupied by Arteche and Calleja, both with 421. Well ahead of him is Atletico captain Koke, who leads the way with 648.
Griezmann can now boast of being Atletico's all-time top scorer with 182 goals to his name, having overtaken Luis Aragonés (172). He is also the player who has scored in the most games (142).
If we look at the players with the most victories, the Frenchman is in ninth place with 233. He is within striking distance of Collar in eighth place with 235.
Despite his great figures, Griezmann is still hungry and his goal, as he said when he returned from Barcelona, is to continue making history as a 'Rojiblanco'.
