Group D in the Champions League is absolutely fantastic for the neutral. Going into the final matchday, all four teams can qualify for the last 16, but all four can get knocked out. Tottenham, Sporting Lisbon, Eintracht Frankfurt and Marseille are in it.

If there is something about the Champions League, it is how unpredictable it is. See the case of Barcelona, for example. They already knew their fate before their penultimate match against Bayern and their final clash with Viktoria Plzen is also meaningless. Fortunately for neutrals, there is group D to enjoy.
In it, all the teams can qualify for the last 16, but all the teams can also be eliminated. Tottenham lead the way with eight points thanks to two wins, two draws and a defeat. Sporting CP are second with seven after two victories, one draw and two losses. Eintracht Frankfurt are third with an identical record, but behind the Portuguese side on head to head while Marseille are bottom with six points. They have two wins and three losses.
What does this mean? That depending on the results of the last two matches, there is nothing that can be ruled out. Tottenham are in the best position are Tottenham as they are assured of at least a Europa League spot. However, that would be a failure for Tottenham given they are so close to qualifying for the knockouts.
The matches on the final matchday will be Sporting Lisbon v Eintracht Frankfurt and Marseille against Tottenham. The good news for Tottenham is that they play the French side because it means they are guaranteed a Europa League spot. A three way tie with Sporting and Frankfurt would see them play in the Europa League.
Tottenham will go through if:
- They win their game - They draw (Sporting CP or Eintracht would have to win to take top spot off them).
Tottenham will be out if:
- They lose (The winner of Sporting and Eintracht would go through and Sporting would qualify with a draw).
Sporting CP will go through if:
- They win (Only Totteham could finish ahead of them). - They draw (They would win the head to head scenarios with Eintracht and Tottenham and Eintracht).
Sporting CP will be out:
- They lose (Tottenham and Eintracht would finish ahead of them).
Eintracht Frankfurt will go through if:
- They win (Only Tottenham could catch them).
Eintracht Frankfurt will be out if:
- They draw (They lose all head to head scenarios with Sporting and Sporting and Tottenham). - They los (They wouldn't be able to catch at two teams)
Marseille will go through if:
- They win (They would finish ahead of Tottenham and the loser of Sporting v Eintracht or both if they draw).
Marseille be out if:
- They draw (they wouldn't be able to catch at least two teams). - They lose (They have less points than everyone else).
