Manchester City won the UEFA Super Cup for the first time on Wednesday but needed penalties to beat Sevilla after a 1-1 draw in Athens.
Josko Gvardiol was making his first start for City since a 90 million euro ($99 million) move from RB Leipzig. The Croatian international was beaten to Marcos Acuna's cross by En-Nesyri, who bulleted a header in off the post.
The 21-year-old spoke to reporters after winning his first trophy in a Manchester City shirt and said this is "the first of many".
"I'm feeling amazing. First game and first trophy. I couldn't imagine a better start. I think it's just the first of many. We are aware that we don't have the opportunity to fight for this trophy every day," he claimed.
