Viktor Gyokeres has broken his silence on the possibility of joining Manchester United. The Sporting Lisbon forward has been linked to several giants across Europe, but Ruben Amorim's recent arrival at Old Trafford, has inspired talk over the striker reuniting with his former manager at United.
Gyokeres is aware of the speculation,, but indicates that Man United's attacking departement may already be filled with plenty of options. "He probably has some strikers there already, so we'll see," Gyokeres said on a possible reunion with Amorim, as he spoke to 'Fotboll Skanalen'.
On whether Amorim has asked him to join the Red Devils, the Sweden international responded: "No, he hasn't." Speaking on the rumours about his future destination in general, Gyokeres insists he does not put much pressure on them. "It's fun but nothing I attach any importance to because it's talk and nothing concrete."
With multiple clubs reportedly interested, the likes of Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League, Gyokeres highlighted that game time is a priority for him wherever he goes. "We will see [about a new club] when the time comes. I want to play, that's crucial, and there will be also other factors," he said.
Speaking on Amorim's exit from Sporting as a whole, he added: 'It's very sad that he's leaving, but of course we understand his decision. He has of course meant a lot [to me] considering that he gave me that chance and that he made me develop so much. Now we look forward to working with the new coach."
