Current Manchester City forward Erling Haaland was named best footballer of the year at the Football Writer's Association (FWA) awards. His formidable season in the English league contributed to him getting the prize.
Without going into more detail, after receiving said award, the Norwegian forward spoke to 'Football Daily', and analysed the stellar form Pep Guardiola's side are going through, which has given them the possibility to win the treble.
"Are we the best in the world? If a team wins all their games, then there's not a lot that you can say. We just try and focus on it game by game and we'll see where that gets us", the striker said.
He then went on to talk about his future, and was full of praise for the Premier League, the league he called the best in the world: "I understand why people say that it's the best league in the world because it really is. I love it, I love playing here".
When asked about his choice to move to Manchester City, he had no doubts: "There was no doubt. I knew I was going to perform and I knew that I was going to play in a good team. It's a very good thing, of course, that the first season I come and I win this award. It's something special and I really appreciate".
