"He has lied straight to our faces" - Llorente hits out at Seville derby referee

Sevilla won the ‘Gran Derbi’ thanks to a Lukebakio goal from a Diego Llorente penalty. After the match, the Real Betis centre-back criticised Martinez Munuera's decision, the VAR and the referee's explanations, who he believes disrespected his team.
Firstly, he denied that the action was deserving of the maximum punishment: "Let's go in parts. The referee has made a huge mistake with the penalty.... I've just seen the images and I don't understand anything. I don't understand anything. My hands are down, he says I have them open and at no time do I have my hands horizontal".
"It's not just that he calls a penalty, which is what he can see on the pitch, but for the VAR not to call him and then tell him that I have my hands like that is disrespectful, it's regrettable," added Diego Llorente.
Aside from the play, the defender was particularly annoyed at the referee's explanations: "In the images you could see that he said he had his hands horizontal and my hands are down and my back is to the ball. It's impossible, impossible for me to see the ball and have any intention of clearing it.
"I think we are ruining football and beyond that, the explanations that are given are making fun of the player, making fun of the fans and a lot of people. Show a little more respect for this crest and for football in general. Here we work like b*stards all week so that the weekend arrives and there are referees who, it's not just that they can reason with you or not, but that on top of that they lie straight to your face saying, as you have seen in the images, that he had his arms like that (open) when it wasn't like that".
