De Jong has been linked with a move to Liverpool... at least according to a Qatari fan. He told him to join Liverpool during the Netherlands' final training session.
"Firstly, I asked him about the situation here, but I think the boys were happy not to think that," De Jong, who had a chat with that supporter in Qatar, began.
In addition, he revealed while laughing in the press conference what he said to him: "He was telling me to join Liverpool and he was trying to persuade me."
"I feel very good at this moment, but right now I'm not thinking about Barcelona, we're here at the World Cup," De Jong, who had many options to leave in the summer, added.
"I think that it's the biggest stage in world football. I always dreamed about being here winning the World Cup, so we're very focussed on that," the Dutchman concluded.
