Manchester United are not throwing in the towel for any competition no matter how prestigious and it was reflected in the Red Devils' 5-2 thrashing of Leicester at Old Trafford in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils came out all guns blazing and scored four goals before half-time to put the win on track and advance to the last 16. The star of the match was Casemiro, who broke the deadlock and added a fourth before the break.
The midfielder has been criticised somewhat this season, especially after the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in which the Brazilian was substituted at the start of the second half after the Reds scored twice before the break.
However, Ruud Van Nistelrooy praised the former Real Madrid player at a press conference after the win over the Foxes, holding him up as an example because of his hard work.
"I was delighted for Casemiro. The way he has been training and helping the team, such an example, we are delighted to have him around. He was almost blamed for the Liverpool game. It is not fair, totally not true. He is an example for us," he told reporters.
