Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona player who won the Kopa trophy for the best player under 21, said on Monday that "hopefully" he can win the Ballon d'Or "as soon as possible" and assured that he will try to achieve that goal.
In statements to ‘Movistar Plus’, after collecting the award, he was optimistic and ambitious when it came to assessing new challenges such as becoming the youngest Ballon d'Or winner in history (currently Ronaldo Nazario, who achieved it at 21 years old).
"It's incredible to be at this gala and to go for more. To go for more means La Liga title, the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and everything we can. We will go for everything. Individually, in the end all the players have that goal (the Ballon d'Or). Hopefully I can win it as soon as possible, it's something I have in mind and I'm going for it.
In addition, the young Barcelona player joked about the incident he had with the earpiece when collecting the award: "It was a bit strange because they put the translator on in French and I didn't understand anything".
