“I can put up with defamation, but my parents don't deserve it”

The world of refereeing is on the warpath after a possible conflict of interest of Jose Luis Munuera Montero came to light on Tuesday. The referee has not taken long to come out publicly to defend himself against the accusations and claims that his family is suffering harassment from people and journalists.
The collegiate appeared on 'El Partidazo de COPE' on Tuesday to try to clarify that there is no conflict of interest: “I am very calm and I want to deny all the slander to which we are accustomed in recent months”.
All this has come after Munuera Montero was put in the spotlight after his refereeing in the Osasuna-Real Madrid, in which he showed Jude Bellingham a red card after saying “F*ck off”.
“There are interests of other types that we have been suffering for some time. I have nephews who are being vilified, nine brothers who are being insulted, a 90-year-old father going to mass,” he said.
The referee took direct aim at the media, as it was one of them who revealed the possible conflict of interest: “How can we show in a newspaper the barbarities we are saying? Do we control violence or do we promote it among all the media? I haven't left my house all day without believing what is happening, it's getting out of hand. What sport are we creating?”.
“I have never been paid by a sports entity, ever, in my life. I am paid by the companies that hire me,” he said. He said the following about Talentus Sports Speakers: “I have been giving conferences for years, transmitting the values that my family and sport have taught me. I made a company for when I am no longer a referee and we give conferences to other companies. As an extra service, free of charge, to young people who want to go we make a database with the sports business industry. That's all there is to it.
“Before I got more than 100,000 threatening messages, death threats, insults, what I did was to silence my LinkedIn account. I am not afraid because I have nothing to hide. My family is the one who is suffering the most, they are very worried. They know that they cannot ask me to stop, it is impossible. I put up with this defamation, but my parents do not deserve this”, she argued.
One of the images they took was of a mural of Messi that they said was Munuera Montero's house: “I don't live there and I don't have an office there. That is the tax headquarters of another company that shares the partner. There is nothing strange. I have nothing to hide, everything has been clarified and the news will come out that everything has been explained”.
