Alvaro Morata is one of the leading lights in the dressing room of the Spanish national team. The captain of 'la Roja' spoke to the microphones of 'El Larguero' on 'Cadena SER' and analysed the team's form ahead of the debut against Croatia, as well as various issues regarding his future.
A future that, if nothing changes, will be at Atletico Madrid, although with nuances: "I don't know what will happen, I can't control what will happen. Maybe I'm not the priority of the coach and the club, I'll have to talk to the people who do that. They can tell me what is in the press, but nobody at the club has told me what position I am in," he told reporters.
"I'm of a certain age and maybe I need to play more games and look for other things. But if the club is counting on me, I am very happy at Atletico Madrid. My house has just been finished and I want to win a title with Atletico, I have always said it and I will say it until I retire. But I don't know if the priority is to have me or to sign other strikers.
"I don't care, I think it's the first time I don't care at all. In the end, it doesn't change anything. I'm not going to solve anything from here. In other summer competitions I did talk to my agent and my family to see the possibilities, but I don't care. In the end, with experience you know that anything that can distract you is not positive", he added.
Once again, he was categorical about his permanence at Atletico, which depends on the club itself: "I imagine that what is in the press will be what they are talking about. That's how clear I say it. I haven't spoken to anyone, but if I see that Atletico want to sign eight strikers, I imagine that I'm not the club's priority. That's how clear I say it. I'm 31 years old, I'm going to be 32 in October. I can't stay at Atletico not to play, not to be a priority. This year, I think it could have been very different for me also on a personal level. I have had several injuries and problems and I think I could have had a better season.
