Pep Guardiola can't hide his love for Barcelona. The Manchester City manager was asked on Che Tempo Che Fa about the opponents they would not want to face on the road to Champions League glory this season.
"Good question. Barcelona, maybe. The affection I have for them tears me apart. I was born in a small town nearby, it's never easy to play against them," he said.
Barcelona have not crossed Pep Guardiola's European path since 2016. On that occasion, the English club beat Luis Enrique's side 3-1 with Ilkay Gundogan's brace and Kevin de Bruyne's strike.
These statements come at a time when rumours are swirling about his future at the Etihad Stadium. In the event that he does not decide to continue with the Premier League champions, all fronts point to Hugo Viana pushing to sign Ruben Amorim as the Spaniard's replacement.
