Barcelona's season is about to come to an end with La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup under their belt. However, at the 'Cule' club there is still the bitter taste of the Champions League.
Robert Lewandowski, at the Laureus Awards, spoke to 'Ran.de' about his arrival at Barcelona and the battle between his former German clubs Bayern Munich and Borussia Dormtund for the Bundesliga title.
"I am very happy at Barcelona. We have a good chance of winning La Liga and this title would be very, very important for the club. It's a process that is still ongoing, but we are on the right track," said the Polish striker.
On winning the league, he added that "it would be very important for the club and for the team". "We have a lot of young players who haven't won any important titles and for them it could be the next stage in their development. And for me it is also important because it is another championship in another country. I am very happy with the way we are going at Barcelona. We have a lot of potential, despite the problems we have had at the club," he added.
Another topic discussed was the Champions League: "If we had played the group stage three months later, we would have been better prepared than before the international break. I hope next season will be better. In the first half of the season, it was still too early. Playing against Bayern at that time was very exciting and too difficult for me. Now, it would probably be a bit easier.
"If one of the two teams slip up now, the other will be German champions. I think Bayern are on the right track. Of course, there were a lot of decisions in the last few weeks that could have influenced the team. I think Bayern are a bit ahead. I'm always with Bayern and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the boys win the title," Lewandowski explained of the Bayern-Borussia Bundesliga battle.
