Pep Guardiola rectified the words he said in 2022 about Matheus Nunes. The Manchester City boss said that, despite not being one of the best players in the world, he is a very good footballer.

Pep Guardiola has always publicly expressed his admiration for his players. Sometimes it backfires and he has to retract it, as he has done with Matheus Nunes.
The Portuguese midfielder is one of the Sky Blues' big signings to strengthen their midfield. In February 2022, when he met him while the player was at Sporting CP, he considered him one of the best players in the world.
Now, with Nunes in his squad, the Spanish coach had to retract his statement. "Maybe I exaggerated a bit when I said Matheus Nunes was one of the best players in the world," Guardiola said after beating Nottingham Forest.
"He is a very good player. Maybe I said that after a 5-1. I don't remember how the game ended. But he is an exceptional player," added the Manchester City boss.
