Nacho Fernandez had the chance to remain Real Madrid's captain this season. The defender's contract was up and the club wanted to renew it, but in the end he decided to leave. Weeks later, he has publicly explained his reasons for leaving.
"I needed a significant change. They showed me a lot of interest in me from the very first moment. I felt the need to try a new experience,’ Nacho told the Saudi League channel.
While Nacho acknowledged that "it was not an easy decision to leave the club" of his life, "I had it very much in my mind and very much thought about it. They spoke to him "several months ago and when the season ended" he closed the deal.
"I am very excited about the Al Qadsiah project. It's a new project, where a lot of foreign players are coming, with players who have a lot of potential in the Arab league. And, as I say, it's a new project, different from the one I've been involved in all my life, and with ambition for the future, which is what's important," said the centre-back.
