The quarter-final between Spain and Germany has become an anticipated final. In terms of football, they are the two teams that have played the best games, but they will have to face each other this Friday to decide the first of the semi-finalists.
If Jens Lehmann set Spain on fire with a few words about 'La Roja', now it is Vicente del Bosque who has taken Germany to task by saying that 'La Roja' is "better in many points".
"Spain are the favourites, I have no doubt that we will win. They play faster and with more pace than Germany. I am firmly convinced we will go through," he told 'Bild'.
"I don't want to be disrespectful and we also have to be humble. But overall I see Spain as better in many points, even if Germany are playing well in attack, especially with Musiala," the former Spain coach confessed.
Del Bosque already knows what it is to win a World Cup (2010) and a European Championship (2012) and what it is to have a winning group. That is why he is backing Luis de la Fuente's 'La Roja' in this tournament.
"We are the favourites, I have no doubt that we will win. We are good in attack and defence. Even if the two best teams in the tournament meet on Friday and Germany have home advantage," he said.
"Winning the fourth would be fantastic for Spanish football as a whole. And don't forget that. Spain would overtake Germany by winning four European Championship titles and take sole possession of the record. I hope a new era begins and our fans are happy," Del Bosque said.
