Former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale said he still loves and supports his former team and expects them to lift the Champions League trophy against Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Bale, who is in London these days to attend the game, gave an interview to 'The Guardian' in which he discussed why he sees Real Madrid as favourites on Saturday.
"It is the one competition valued more than any others, the main focus every year. But the fact they keep doing it, even when they seem down and out. We always seem to find a way to get back into a game and win it. It is that aura," he began.
"Other teams now are arguably playing the badge and not necessarily the team. It has momentum behind it, Real Madrid and the European Cup. Teams are scared to play Real Madrid and that is such a big thing."
Bale, especially in his later years, has been criticised for his lack of commitment to the club, particularly his preference for the Wales national team and his hobbies, such as golf, which he denies.
"I still look for their results, still love the team, still support then, just like I did when I was young. I fully expect Madrid to lift the trophy. They understand the pressures and know what to expect, which is a big advantage," Bale added.
