Bruno Fernandes is not having the best start to the season since joining Manchester United. The Red Devils captain has been the focus of criticism for his poor form until a brace helped United beat Leicester 5-2 in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, the current United manager until Ruben Amorim takes over, said ahead of the Premier League game against Chelsea that he had not been worried about the Portuguese playmaker and was glad he scored against the Foxes.
"I wasn't worried about Bruno Fernandes, no way. I see him every day in training... the way he trains, he helps the team, he works hard every single day. I was happy for him as he scored vs Leicester," said the Dutch coach.
It should be recalled that the United captain received two consecutive red cards a month ago after a straight red card against Spurs and a double yellow against Porto. However, the red he saw against Tottenham was overturned.
