"I would have liked to retire at Barca with Messi"

After 11 seasons and all the possible titles in his home trophy cabinet, Jordi Alba leaves Barcelona on a high note and with the feeling of having fulfilled his expectations, both in sporting terms and in other aspects, such as financially, after having renounced his last year of his contract and the possibility of an extension which, as he revealed, was part of his commitment.
In an interview with 'EFE', Jordi Alba explained the reasons behind his decision. He admitted that he would have liked to retire at Camp Nou alongside the best in the world, Leo Messi.
"Of course I would have liked to retire alongside Messi at Barcelona, but in the end I decided this without looking at other options. I made a very well thought-out decision, agreed with my family, and I think I did the best thing. Of course I would have liked to stay as long as possible with him because I was a better player with him, it is clear that when you surround yourself with very good players, you also improve.
"All the goals I've scored (27), almost all of them have come from him, I've also provided him with quite a few, but not just for the assists, we understood each other on the pitch, to combine.... Without seeing me he knew that I was going to run into space, he found me through defence-splitting passes. We scored a lot of goals like that, he was a player who understood me perfectly," concluded the former Barca player.
