Andres Iniesta announced this week his retirement as a professional footballer. A unique player is leaving, a player idolised in almost all of Spain.
The first thing that comes to mind is what Iniesta will do from now on. What is clear to the Spaniard is that he would like to be with his two great teams - Barcelona and the Spanish national team. And it's all about starting at the bottom.
"Right now I want to start training, to learn everything off the pitch and from there we'll see what happens. Being coach of Barcelona is a big thing, but for the moment I want to progress and see what happens," he told Sport.
Iniesta was also asked about the possibility, in the long-term future, of coaching the Spanish national team: "I'd like to be at Barcelona and with Spain, in the places I've been and the places I identify with. But I'm more of a short-term thinker. I think I like things and I wish they would happen, but we'll see what happens," he concluded.
