Malaga CF, especially in the last decade, has had to let go of very promising players in order to stabilise the club's finances. Many players who were just starting to make a name for themselves left the club, never to return, although the Blue and Whites' feeling is still present.
This is the case of Samu Castillejo, perhaps one of the most successful players of recent times. The winger, who is now wandering around Italy after playing for Sassuolo, has shown his love for the Martiricos club and has no doubts about returning... in the future.
"I would love to return to Malaga. I have said many times that I would like to return to my home team to enjoy my people and the stadium. I only spent one year in the first team and it was quite short," confessed the winger, who will return next season to Valencia, where he has one year left on his contract.
"No matter what category the club is playing in, I want to come back. The feeling, what the people of Malaga feel, has nothing to do with the category the team is in," he added.
Castillejo has a plan for Saturday: "We'll be at the stadium to support the team and try to get through this tie. We played pretty well in the first leg. I think they have a better team, they showed it in the first leg and now we have to finish it off in the second leg".
Castillejo left Malaga with Samu Garcia to Villarreal: "They were three fantastic years. We had a spectacular group. I really enjoyed all that time and I left many friends that I still have. It's a club that has been working very well with the youth system for many years".
