Barcelona president Joan Laporta said on Wednesday that he would renew Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araujo "for life" after being asked about the Uruguayan's future at the club.
Laporta made these statements during the presentation of 'Origins Araujo', the first documentary of the 'Barça One' platform, which will be released in the coming weeks, free of charge. During the ceremony, the president said: "He is a wonderful person. I will not discover the professional quality of Ronald (Araujo), one of the best centre-backs in the world".
The leader added that the Azulgrana defender, who arrived at the club's youth academy in 2018, has "a great commitment on and off the pitch with his teammates", as well as "with the coaching staff and the fans".
"In the documentary we will see why he is such an extraordinary and human person," said Laporta. The premiere of the documentary was attended by other members of Barca, including coach Xavi Hernandez, sporting director Anderson Luis Da Souza 'Deco', and teammates Gavi, Joao Felix, Joao Cancelo and Raphinha, among others.
