Robert Lewandowski said he was "confident" ahead of the Champions League last-16 tie against Napoli. "If we play our game, we will advance," he said in an interview with 'TVP Sport'.
"Two weeks ago we started to train harder, more intense. We played better in the last few games. We are on an upward trend and I think this is the time to show that we can compete with anyone," he commented in reference to the improvement in results obtained by the club.
The striker also assessed how he has evolved: "I have changed privately during these 4 or 5 years. Let's be honest, my career has taught me a lot. I haven't stayed in the same place, I've changed clubs and that has allowed me to draw conclusions. I have also acquired knowledge that I want to use.
On another note, Lewandowski explained what it means to share a dressing room with very young players such as Gavi, Pedri and Lamine Yamal. He emphasised the maturing process of these talents and their preparation to withstand criticism.
"Now there is another generation, there is Instagram, social media... it is even more difficult. This is the challenge of football: whether these players will be able to hold on mentally for 10, 12 or even more years. The pressure is huge and few people could cope with it all," he said.
Finally, he addressed the Cubarsi's breakthrough: "It's been a long time since I've met a centre-back, especially at this age, who can pass the ball so calmly. He is also a great person".
