Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez said on Saturday that against Real Madrid "if you take a backseat, you pay the price" after his side's victory at the Santiago Bernabeu, and pointed out that the Catalan side have "a clear idea of how to play".
"From Madrid, you're scared of the whole team, but it's nothing new. We have a lot of confidence at the back. We also have confidence in Inaki Pena, who is playing very well. We've been working on this idea (playing with a forward defensive line) since preseason. We've been working on it very well. Everything is flowing and we hope it continues like this," he told reporters.
On Saturday's game, Martinez said that in the first half, Barcelona were "carried away by the refereeing decisions", while in the second half, they focused more on their game, which allowed them to "generate more chances" and be comfortable in the match.
Asked about Barcelona's improvement compared to last campaign, the defender replied that "every coach transmits different things" and stressed that "when you string together victories like this year it's all easier".
"This year we are doing a lot of damage on the counter. The strikers are very happy and when they get loose, they generate a lot," he added.
