If anyone had any doubts, De Jong has no plans to leave Barcelona anytime soon. "I'm at the club of my dreams, I feel very satisfied at Barcelona. It's always difficult to say, but for now I feel good here," the Dutchman told 'NOS'.
The midfielder is clear that there are many things he wants to achieve at Barca: "I have not yet won the awards I want to win and I am not yet the player I want to be. I have room for improvement and time to do it".
De Jong stressed that his goal is to grow professionally and thus help the club. "Being decisive is usually linked to goals and assists, but for my position it's different. I want to be important in a different way. I can still take steps forward. I'm still not where I want to be.
He expressed regret that the institution is not doing as well as he would like and denied knowing why Barca are going through so many ups and downs: "We have a talented squad, but we haven't been consistent enough. I don't know the exact reasons behind that".
As for his future, De Jong ruled out swapping the pitch for the bench. "I don't think I'll be a coach after my playing career," he said.
