Leo Messi is in his final years of his career. The Argentine footballer has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Miami, where he will play in the less competitive MLS league.
The Argentinian, before leaving for the United States, gave an interview to 'beIN Sports' to talk about his two years with the French club.
"I came to Paris Saint-Germain because I liked the club, I had friends, I had a lot of people I knew in the dressing room. It seemed to me that beyond what the club was, I was going to have a much easier adaptation to anywhere else I went, that's why I decided to come to the club," explained the PSG '30'.
The former Barcelona player acknowledged that it was not easy, as he arrived with the season about to start: "It was a very difficult adaptation, much more than I expected. It was difficult to adapt to the change, arriving late, not starting the pre-season, adapting to a new club, to a new way of playing. It was difficult to adapt, both for me and for my family.
This was joined by the coronavirus he caught on holiday. "In December, when I went to Argentina, I caught COVID-19 and that made my return different. It was hard to get back in shape.
Winning the World Cup meant Messi crowned his career as the greatest footballer of all time. The Argentinian longed to achieve a star not only for the country, but for himself.
"Whenever we go to a competition we always go with the intention of winning, of being champions. Realistically, we knew we were one of the favourites, but a World Cup is very difficult," he argued.
Messi was thrilled that the football world wanted him to win the World Cup: "There were a lot of people who were very happy, a lot of football fans wanted Argentina to be champions partly because of me. I don't change anything at all. All I can say is that we have one more star. I have nothing left to achieve, I've achieved everything.
