Italy's Ciro Immobile, who was involved in a car crash with his daughters on Sunday, remained in hospital for an extra night for observation, although he could be medically cleared, to accompany his daughter until Tuesday.
The Lazio striker was driving his car through Rome when he collided with a tram that allegedly went through a red light and caused him a "compound fracture of the 11th right rib", his club reported.
The accident took place in Piazza Cinque Giornate at around 8.30 a.m. on Sunday morning and, although there were no serious injuries, the front of the footballer's car and the front of the tram were damaged due to the force of the impact.
The striker, after reporting the incident to the authorities and confirming that the situation was under control, was taken to Gemelli hospital for medical examinations. His daughter Michela went with him to the same centre and needed another 24 hours of observation, according to local media reports, which is why he stayed longer as an inpatient.
Both are expected to be medically cleared on Tuesday morning. His youngest daughter was taken to the Bambino Gesu hospital after the accident, but her condition was good and she was medically cleared on Sunday.
