Florentino Perez equalled the 31 titles won by Real Madrid's most successful president in history, Santiago Bernabeu, by winning the Club World Cup in Rabat, an achievement that he said made him "proud" of his players and Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.
"Before winning the World Cup, you have to win the Champions League, with which Real Madrid have a special love affair. This is the icing on the cake. Whenever you win a title it's always hard, but this one is special because you have to win the Champions League first. To be the best in Europe and then in the world is a satisfaction and I feel very proud of all my players," he said on 'Real Madrid TV'.
"It's not easy because you have to win six Champions League titles, I've been fortunate enough to win them and crown it with the Club World Cup. Now we have to keep working because at Real Madrid everything we win is the starting point for the next challenge. We're going to keep fighting for everything," he added.
Florentino Perez praised Ancelotti's work and thanked his players for their efforts to continue achieving success. "The combination of veterans and youngsters and a coach like Ancelotti, who knows how to combine them very well, produces this. I can't be more than satisfied. The credit goes to the players, great players and madridistas. That mix often makes us unbeatable".
