After six seasons at Inter Milan, Milan Skriniar joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent, but the 'Nerazzurri's coffers were left with nothing. A decision that has not gone down well with the Inter directors, including Marotta, the club's sporting director.
The Italian club executive spoke to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' about the terms of the Slovak defender's departure for PSG:
"A player who pretended to want to extend when he was thinking of something else [...] When a player doesn't extend, he's not going against his managers, but against the history and values of the club. He could have extended his contract, and we offered him several solutions, even the possibility of a release clause. But he always said no.
During the 2023 winter transfer window, Skriniar was very close to signing for PSG. However, he finally decided to stay in Lombardy for another six months and join the French club as a free agent.
