As y’all know about the hot topic that has grabbed the attention of Bayern Munich, you might be wondering if there’s any reason to be tense about Harry Kane.

Well, Harry Kane surprisingly hit the ground while he was running at Bayern Munich. Although he scored ten and assisted in 5 out of 10 competitive games, this became breaking news!
Despite the powerful start of Kane’s life in Bavaria, many fans are unsatisfied with the lack of involvement by the captain. Eventually, this has left the fans bewildered as to why the club spent more than 90 million euros on a barely involved player.
And you may be thinking about the same thing. Aren’t you?
Well, this might be somehow a point of worrying, but there’s nothing to fret about. Where Kane is falling behind in overall involvement, he is a champion in goal scoring and is currently producing 0.95 expected goals per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga.
Not only this, but he is surrounded by some highly capable creators, Thomas Muller, Jamal Musiala, and Joshua Kimmich, who were in the 90th percentile for SCA (short-creating actions) in the last season of Bundesliga.

While the SCA numbers of Kane are down compared to other past seasons, he has recently been providing around 0.52 assists per 90, which means that he’s still an efficient creator when it matters.
Harry Kane is putting up incredible numbers at Munich. Since Robert Lewandowski’s departure, Bayern needed a top-notch striker who is capable of scoring goals. And guess what what the solution was? Yes, it was no other but Harry Kane!
The former Spurs man has also coincided around 10 goals in various appearances for Die Roten, averaging approximately 30 touches every 90 minutes across the competitions. This is where the problem lies! Does it?
Typically, touches indicate how a player is involved in the given game and what his performance is. The higher the touches are, the more the performance and involvement of the player is. So, does it actually mean there is more involvement of the striker, too, and that it has more impact? Absolutely not!
And if touches don’t signify how effective the performance of a striker is, then what actually does? Well, goals!
Now, let’s look at the most prolific season for goal-scoring by Kane, the season 17/18. Remember that the Englishman managed around 41 goals across the competitions.
But this might not be really surprising. What may surprise people is his involvement throughout the season. Let me burst the bubble! Kane averaged just 31 touches per 90, one more than he currently averages specifically for Bayern.
Another great example of the impact of a striker compared to his involvement is Erling Haaland, who is the best striker in the world. The former Dortmund man rounded off the Premier League season and scored 36 amazing goals.
But how much Haaland was involved in this? Well — in the season of these 36 goals, the most recorded one, the Norwegian was averaging only 25 touches per 90. Also, the Manchester City team averaged approximately 25 touches every 90 minutes, 787 touches per 90, and 65.2% possession was sufficient to make Haaland the player of the season.
So, what does all this mean?
In a nutshell, touches are ideal markers for involvement; however, it does not determine how impactful the striker is for the team. Goals are the main metric we have to look at, especially for strikers — this is something Kane is excelling at Bayern Munich so far.
Currently, there is no metric that can determine the overall creativity of players. A nice place to begin with is through the SCA (short-creating actions). Without any shadow of a doubt, these metrics count the two offensive actions that occur in the lead-up to the shot directly.
Let’s shed light on Spur's major creative contingent in the inclusive Premier League in the previous season. At that time, Kane produced around 3.46 SCA per 90 minutes, Pedro Porro (3.26), and Ivan Perisic (3.2).
Ultimately, it ranks them in the 90th percentile of their positions. They are pretty decent but not as top-notch as the top creators of Bayern. In the season 22/23 Bundesliga, Bayern had 5 players in the almost 90th percentile for short-creating actions per 90 minutes. It includes Kingsley Coman (5.43), Alphonso Davies (3.88), Jamal Musiala (4.91), Thomas Müller (4.65) and Joshua Kimmich (4.55).
On top of that, all these players (excluding Alphonso Davies) registered at least 1 more SCA compared to Kane last season.
But does that depict that Kane has become a poor and less efficient creator immediately? Absolutely not! Well, what about the Spurs? Were they bad the previous season? Umm… yes, but not really quite the point.
As a matter of fact, Bayern has more efficient creators and high-quality members compared to the Spurs of Harry Kane. This clearly shows that Kane won’t be needed to be the outlet he previously was at Spurs, but instead, the end product of creators in Bayern.
Harry Kane has seen his short-creating actions take a knock since he joined Bayern. In the last season of Spurs, he averaged 3.47 SCA per 90, which he maintained throughout the time he was in London. The SCA of Kane at Bayern per 90 is now down to 2.5.
This might concern some people, but it can be explained mostly by the last segment. So, people can also interpret that Harry has lost his efficient and creative touch. But seriously, this is not the case anyway!
It is no secret that Kane is incredibly scoring goals, but what’s being overlooked is that he has racked up 5 assists in 10 games already. He, alone in the Bundesliga, has registered 4 assists, which is a big achievement. And that’s more than he managed throughout the whole Premier League season 22/23.
Moreover, Bayern as a team is a better outlet with powerful finishers compared to last season’s Spurs. Anyhow, recording almost 0.52 assists per 90, above his most prolific seasons in the Spurs, proves that Harry Kane is capable enough of creating whenever it matters the most.
Taking everything into consideration, there’s no reason for the fans of Bayern to fret about Kane's lack of involvement. Despite fewer touches, the Englishman is still scoring goals while being highly supported by numerous creative talents. It suggests that Harry Kane is still contributing significantly to the team's success by providing assists, even if he may not be directly involved in creating as many shots.
