Andres Iniesta cannot predict the future, but he can give his opinion on it. He has been interviewed by several media outlets recently, even in 'The Wild Project', the podcast of Youtuber Jordi Wild to talk about footballing and personal matters. In an interview with 'AS', he talked about Leo Messi's hyptothetical return to Barcelona.
"It doesn't seem easy, of course, but I'm not Leo or Laporta and I can't predict what will happen in the future. Would I like it to happen? More than whether I would like it, he (Messi) has to like it and see whether it could happen," Iniesta said. He was also asked whether he spoke a lot to Xavi, who he was with for many years at the best Barca in modern history.
"We're in frequent contact, but, when we speak, we don't do talk about tactics or the opposition. He's doing something that he wanted to do, he's prepared for it and, also, he's at home. He knew the huge challenge he was facing and, as a friend, what I want is for everything to go as well as possible," he explained.
"Comparing Pedri to me? It's going to affect him or influence him at home. Pedri enjoys playing football and he doesn't care whether it's the Bernabeu or the square in his village. You can notice that and therefore, I don't think it influences him. Comparisons are not notice because they are just noise (from the media), I have my history and he has to make his and he has enough potential to be a main man for his club and country," Iniesta added.
The former Barca man also commented on Pedri's use of the word "failure" to define Barcelona's Champions League elimination. "I don't like that word. Talking about failure is relative because they have tried as hard as they can. It's a disappointment and much more given the new signings this years," he considered.
He also praised Robert Lewandowski: He's a spectacular footballer. We already knew it. As well as scoring a lot of goals, they are lovely with brilliant technical manouvres or physical presence. He is a player who must be key at this Barca, not only because of the fact he can score to make the difference, but also because of what he has to transmit to the youngest members of the team and people in general."
