Enrique Cerezo, chairman of Atletico Madrid, deemed it "quite normal" for Portuguese player Joao Felix to want to remain at Barcelona because he is enjoying prominence there, while also asserting that he is "an outstanding player".
"He's playing at Barcelona, and it's normal that he wants to stay there. Barcelona wants him, and he wants them, so everyone is happy. Besides, he'll be lucky because Barcelona will retain a fantastic player. He has fitted in very well at Barcelona, he's doing great, and all we wish for him is the best of luck. I don't know what amount Atleti would retain. That's something you need to ask the economics department; I'm from the sports side," he said.
Cerezo, who was awarded at the presentation of the eighth edition of the 'Torneo de Futbol Cadete Vicente del Bosque Villa de Alalpardo', also referred to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF): "It's a real shame that the Spanish Federation is in this situation. What they have to do is try to solve it soon. The sooner it is solved, the better for Spanish football and for the Federation".
As for the fight for 4th place, he said: "We've moved to within 2 points of Bilbao - yes, he called it 'Bilbao' once again. We have very important matches, including Girona next Sunday. But, now, all the games are important. We have to go out like we did the other day in Villarreal, to win. And we won".
