RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose said his players "left everything on the pitch" but made "too many mistakes" while highlighting Antoine Griezmann's performances after losing 2-1 at the Metropolitano. "It was a pleasure to watch him play," he said.
"We leave sad because the boys left everything on the pitch. We came into the game well, but then we made too many mistakes, which led to the confidence of Atletico, who have excellent players, and they got into the game," explained the coach.
"In the second half, we had it under control, although they had their chances, which is not surprising, but the result in the last minute is annoying," he added.
"We are in the Champions League and at this level, it's the details that decide a game. We didn't take our chances after coming out well in the game and conceded the two goals. We didn't defend them properly. We didn't know how to take advantage of the spaces, especially with 0-1 on the scoreboard and we left as losers.
"We don't have much time to dwell on the consequences of this result. We have another game on Friday and we have to recover and get our energy back. We still have a lot of confidence in our style of play. There were a lot of young players in the team and we have to continue to have confidence in them," he continued.
