Barcelona sporting director Deco has ruled out the possibility of selling Ronald Araujo and Frenkie De Jong in a bid to secure the services of Kylian Mbappe, who looks set to join Real Madrid at the end of the season.
"I don't know what will happen with Mbappe. But it wouldn't be a good idea to sell Araujo and Frenkie. We're trying to improve the squad. If we have to sell, let's do it to balance the squad. I think it would only make things worse, said Deco.
"I want to improve it, it would be like taking off an arm and a leg. It would be a mistake and it would only make the team's situation worse," he added in an interview with Esports 3's Eleven programme.
On the subject of Aleix Garcia, the Girona midfielder whose name has been linked with Barca in recent weeks, the former Portuguese midfielder said: "Xavi and I have said that he's a player we like. He's a good player who could be very useful to us."
