Leo Messi has still not renewed his contract with PSG and the rumours about which team the Argentine will play for are growing by the day. In that sense, the latest information links the Argentine with Newell's, the club of his childhood.
However, MLS officials are not giving up hope. Don Garber, commissioner of the American league, gave an interview to 'The Athletic' and affirmed that they are waiting for the Argentine with open arms.
"It would be great for MLS if Messi came. He is arguably the most special player in the history of the sport. We would have to offer him a deal that would suit him and his family," he said.
On the PSG player's possible landing in the United States, Gaber added: "MLS is a unique entity. Whatever Jorge Mas (Inter Miami owner) proposes, with the help of Todd Durbin (MLS executive vice-president), to build something, will be studied by the club collective, who will approve it if they think it's appropriate.
"If we have the opportunity to do so, it will be out of the ordinary," he concluded.
