Manchester United have not been in contention to win the Premier League for several years now but this time they have not even qualified for Europe via the league competition.
Harry Maguire is well aware that the year has not been a good one, and he said so in an interview with 'Talksport' in which he also spoke about his physical problems and the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
"It has been a really disappointing season from where we were a year ago. Everyone will admit that. Obviously, we have had a ridiculous number of injuries, a freak number. We have not dealt with it well enough. We should have managed more points than what we did. We have not performed well enough and our performances should have been better," he said.
"It is what happens when you play for this club. If you don’t get good results, players get scrutinised, players get linked with a move away. They get sold, put on the transfer list and the manager will come under pressure. I have been here five years now so I know what happens. The manager is experienced enough to know it is part and parcel of being at this club. I am sure he can deal with that," Maguire added.
Manchester United have one bullet left to save the season, namely the FA Cup final against Manchester City. Maguire is a doubt due to fitness problems but wants to be available at Wembley on Saturday to help his teammates.
"I'm doing everything I can to get back. Even if I'm only back in training the day before the game, I want to play. It was frustrating to suffer the injury in training, I would have liked to finish the Premier League season," he concluded.
