Real Madrid have their sights set on the 2023/24 Champions League final, where they will seek their 15th trophy against Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund. Coach Carlo Ancelotti gave an interview to UEFA and explained the team's feelings just over a week ahead of the clash.
"I try to seize the moment and now is a very good moment. Worry will come, but the aim is to make it come as late as possible. We have to enjoy the moment, the big game, the most important of the year and the most beautiful to live", he began.
On their opponents: "We are very happy to be in another final. Borussia Dortmund deserve to be in the final, as do Real Madrid. They are a solid, compact team."
Ancelotti appreciated the players' extra motivation when wearing the club's shirt: "It's difficult to explain what a player feels when he puts on this shirt. It's the history and tradition of this club. This group of players feel something special when they are at Real Madrid and that brings out that energy that nobody expects".
"The best quality the team has shown this year is everyone's attitude, concentration and teamwork. I think that has made the difference in this season, which has been very good despite the difficulties at the beginning. We can say that the best qualities of this team are competitiveness, seriousness and the ability to overcome any obstacle," he said.
His philosophy as a coach: "I believe a lot in the creativity of the players when they have the ball and I don't want to obsess them with predefined schemes, but leave it to their individual initiative. Obviously, there is the work without the ball, the sacrifice and the concentration, but creativity is fundamental, especially in players like ours, with so much talent," he added.
