The Argentines were very unhappy with the outcome of their match against Morocco at the Paris Olympics. The match was stopped in the final moments and restarted almost two hours later to play three extra minutes and see the Albiceleste's equaliser disallowed.
Agentina U23 coach Javier Mascherano spoke after the match and described what happened on the pitch as a "circus".
He also denounced the lack of security: "Yesterday we were robbed. They stole Almada's watches and rings. They ask us for credentials for everything, but then these things happen. They invaded the pitch seven times and then threw firecrackers at us. This is an Olympic Games, not a neighbourhood tournament. This can't happen.
"They told us it was finished 2-2. They never told us that a play was being reviewed. Neither Morocco nor we wanted to continue playing. We don't like these things happening, we don't want them to benefit us, far from it, but we don't want to be taken for a ride like we were today," he added.
Nicolas Otamendi, who is one of the players over the age of 23 who has been included in the Argentina squad, also expressed his opinion on what happened: "Nothing like this has ever happened before. Morocco didn't want to play and neither did we. We waited for an hour and forty minutes, but nobody would tell us what was going on."
