Riccardo Calafiori said he is enjoying playing in the Premier League after moving from the Seria A. Despite being completely different than Italian football, Riccardo Calafiori said he is loving life in the Premier League. The Arsenal defender has spent just over a month at the North London club, but has quickly earned fan's adoration with his stunning goal against Man City - which was also his first goal as a Gunner - and solid performances in these opening games of the 2024/2025 season.
"I felt the difference of the Premier League right from the beginning, especially in training. It's been quite a big jump in terms of intensity. This Premier League is a league of its own, completely different to Serie A," revealed the 22-year-old as he spoke to the microphones of 'Tg1'.
Nevertheless, he emphasises that his words do not mean to play down the level of the Italian league. "I don't feel like it's [the Premier League] better than ours [Serie A], but I certainly do think it's different. There is more intensity [in the Premier League]. Coming to England has been a big step in my career," he explained.
On his relationships with the fans, Calafiori stated: “It's a bit early to say I've won over the fans, but I've made them love me straight away!". However, he admits that he has his team mates at Arsenal to thank for how quickly he has adapted to his new life in England. I've settled in very well here, thanks to my team-mates and the club. The goal is a result of the way they helped me from the start," he concluded.
