Valencia announced on Friday the renewal of left-back Jesus Vazquez until June 2026, extending his contract with the Mestalla club by a further season, thus securing the continuity of the young player and Jose Luis Gaya, whose contract expires in 2027.
The Valencia academy player, who made his first-team debut in the 2020/21 campaign, has accumulated a total of 53 competitive matches despite being ahead of Gaya, whose left quadriceps injury opens the door for Jesus Vazquez to start the season as a first-team regular.
The 21-year-old made a record 23 appearances as a first-team player last season, although a neuromotor disorder at the start of the season brought his career to a complete halt for several weeks and meant the player did not play again until December.
The La Liga club said in a statement that Jesus Vazquez "has taken all the necessary steps in his training, overcoming all the stages to reach the elite and make a place for himself in the first team".
