Jude Bellingham capped a great week in which he sealed the La Liga title for Real Madrid with a late winner in 'El Clasico' by winning the Laureus Award for the 2023 World Breakthrough of the Year.
The members of the Laureus Academy voted the Real Madrid player ahead of British athlete Josh Kerr, Colombian footballer Linda Caicedo, American tennis player Coco Gauff, Spanish footballer Salma Paralluelo and Chinese swimmer Qin Haiyang.
Bellingham was voted best player under 21 at the Ballon d'Or awards. In June 2023 he was transferred from Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid, for whom he scored 10 goals in his first 10 games. He succeeds Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz in the list of winners in this category.
Moreover, according to several media reports, the Three Lions midfielder is currently tipped to win the next edition of the Ballon d'Or, where he will compete mainly against Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland for the coveted prize.
