Liverpool sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after claiming a comfortable victory over Southampton in the last 16. The Reds, who have been plagued by injuries, had youngsters Bradley, Quansah, McConnell, Clark and Koumas in the starting XI to face the Saints.
In addition, Jurgen Klopp brought on Jayden Danns, Trey Nyoni - who became the third youngest player to make his debut in Liverpool's history - and Kaide Gordon in the second half. Despite having so many inexperienced players, the Anfield side dominated the game and claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Recently, Liverpool's youngsters were already instrumental in Liverpool's victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup final, which was the first trophy of the season for Jurgen Klopp's team, who praised his young players at a press conference after the FA Cup fifth round victory.
"I cannot imagine how this week must feel for the boys. It feels pretty good for me but I know about all the problems we have around as well. They don't have to care about that, so they can just fly and they deserve that. It's the week of the Academy and I'm so happy to mention them again, just because it's exceptional," he said.
"We should not forget Trey Nyoni came on tonight – that looked promising as well. Not in the squad because [they are] injured, Ben Doak, who had already a few really good games for us, and Stefan Bajcetic, same age group. There is a lot to come. Conor [Bradley] we don't mention anymore in these circumstances, [Jarell] Quansah we don't mention anymore in these circumstances. It's pretty special what's happening," concluded the German.
