Ipswich Town were promoted to the Premier League after securing second place in the Championship last season. They are looking to strengthen their ranks in a season in which they should be able to count on Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips.
According to 'The Telegraph', the two sides have held talks, which are now virtually complete. The Sky Blues are keen to close the deal as soon as possible.
The former Leeds United player joined Pep Guardiola's squad in the summer of 2022. City paid 49 million euros for him, but his manager has never found a place for him in his plans. Against this backdrop, it is understandable that talks for a new escape route have progressed so quickly.
The same media outlet reports that three suitors had also enquired about Kalvin Phillips, but that Ipswich Town are the ones who have won the race for his services. On a personal level, the player will be looking to use this stint to get back into the England squad as the FA look to recruit Gareth Southgate's replacement.
