Lionel Messi will not continue at Paris Saint-Germain next season. It is a fact. The club announced, through a statement on their social networks, that the Argentine will not renew his contract and will end his time at the Parisian side after two consecutive seasons.
The Argentina captain will have to find a new team for the next season, so the transfer saga is about to start. Without going any further, three clubs are positioned as strong candidates to land one of the best players in the history of football.
In recent days, Inter Miami, who are co-owned by David Beckham, have made a formal offer to sign Messi. Messi himself has mentioned on more than one occasion that he would like to live in the United States, so this option is not out of the question.
Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, Al Hilal have almost everything in place for the Argentine to sign his contract and become a player for the Saudi side in the next few days. In the Middle East they assume that Messi will accept a proposal of up to 600 million euros per year.
FC Barcelona are at the bottom of the list. The Catalan side are waiting for La Liga's approval of their viability plan before they can officially bid for Messi, although Xavi Hernandez has already made it clear that he wants the Qatar World Cup winner to return next season.
The Catalan club cannot compete from a financial point of view, but will appeal to the emotional side of the issue to open the doors to one of their greatest ever legends.
The three clubs remain optimistic, but the truth is that, at the moment, Saudi Arabia seems to be the most logical destination for Messi, who could make his decision in the next few days. He is expected to make his decision official on Tuesday 6th June.
