Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp suggested that Cody Gakpo could be Liverpool's only signing in January, as he said that the club "cannot play Monopoly" in the transfer window, and that he has "faith and confidence" in the players he has.
"I don't want to disappoint anyone, but we signed a star player such as Gakpo and the next thing you read is, 'Who's next?", the German said.
With strikers Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota out of action due to injuries, Liverpool signed Gakpo, who scored three goals for The Netherlands in the World Cup, from PSV Eindhoven for an initial fee of €45 million.
"We can't play Monopoly, we never did... It's a big part of my philosophy, working with full faith and confidence in the players that we have and to not constantly question them by saying that we need another player in their position", he added.
After a poor start to the season, Liverpool are 15 points off leaders Arsenal, but they have won their last four league games, taking them up to sixth before they travel to Brentford on Monday night.
