Jurgen Klopp has found Joe Gomez to be a versatile option for Liverpool this season. The Reds defender got to play in three different positions during the win over Nottingham Forest last term in the Premier League.
The former Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund coach used the versatile former Charlton Athletic player as a midfielder, left-back and finishing on the right side of the Anfield defence.
“If you play football at this level, there is (a big) difference between centre-half, full-back, right, left, to the No.6 – and he is capable of that transition in his mind. He is one of those stories. What a wonderful player he is and I am so happy he can show that again,” said Klopp.
“In midfield, the game is coming from all angles. Everything changes and he has dealt with it so well, it’s crazy. Really good and super-important,” added the German Liverpool boss about Joe Gomez.
The 26-year-old England player has already made 37 appearances in the 2023-2024 season, his highest figure since he made 43 official appearances in the 2019-2020 season with Liverpool.
