Alexis Mac Allister was forced off injured in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Sheffield United in the Premier League matchday 15 fixture at Bramall Lane. He has been injured since the beginning of December.
The Argentinean player was one of the reinforcements of the summer transfer window and is making an impact in the Reds midfield alongside Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.
Nonetheless, his return could be closer than expected as he could take part in Liverpool's next match against Newcastle United. His manager Jurgen Klopp will assess his progress at the next training session.
"Macca, we will see what he can do today – if he can step into team training or not. The decision is not done yet, it’s pretty early and the Doc is not here; or maybe he is here but I didn’t see him yet. So, we will see," he told reporters.
